5 Things First-Time Shooters Should Know Before Visiting a Gun Range

If you’ve never been to a gun range before, it’s normal to feel a mix of excitement and nerves. At Strip Gun Club, we welcome thousands of first-time shooters each year, many with no prior experience. Whether it’s your first time holding a firearm or you’re just crossing this off your Vegas bucket list, here’s what you need to know before stepping onto the range.

1. No Experience? No Problem.
You don’t need to bring a permit or have a firearms background. Our trained range safety officers guide you through everything, from firearm handling to stance and technique. We focus on safety first and never rush the experience.

2. Bring Valid ID
A government-issued photo ID is required for every guest. You must be at least 18 years old to shoot on your own, or 10 and up if accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants are verified at check-in. International travelers may present a photo of their passport on a mobile device if the physical passport is secured elsewhere, such as in a hotel safe.

3. Be Sober and Legally Eligible
We take safety seriously. If you’re visibly intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, legal or illegal, you will not be allowed on the range. This includes the odor of cannabis. We will always err on the side of caution. If you smell like cannabis, you will be refused service. Additionally, if you are prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a felony conviction or a mental health adjudication, you are not eligible to shoot. No exceptions.

4. Kids Under 10 Are Not Allowed on the Range
Children under the age of 10 are not permitted on the range under any circumstances. If your group includes younger children, they must remain in the lobby and be supervised by an adult member of your party at all times.

5. Dress for the Range
Closed-toed shoes are strongly recommended, and we suggest avoiding low-cut shirts due to the risk of hot brass ejection. Eye and ear protection will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own if preferred.
